Social Media and Community Engagement
The purpose of social media is to quickly and easily spread information pertaining to the events happening within your community or personal life. But to what effect does that information have upon those that decide to view it? Is it possible to use social media in a such a manner as to bring people closer together? If so, how is it possible?
The video below is a TED talk by Dan Ariely that explains a person’s natural drive to find meaning in every action they take, and that by highlighting that person’s achievements we can effectively motivate them to do more. This creates leaders within the community that have the ability to go out and bring others together, to engage them.
THS National is regularly striving to be an example of bringing people together and motivating others to go do the same. That simple goal is why we’ve also created our Impact Initiative blog and Youtube channel, to document local leaders making a difference in their community and highlight those leaders using social media. We hope you will join with us and share your stories, enjoy the video.
